A WW1 Austro-Hungarian Karl Troop Cross and ribbon. Instituted by Emporer Karl in 1916, it was awarded to any member of their armed forces who has served in a combat area for more than 12 weeks and fought in at least one battle. Medal is inscribed ‘A grateful prince and country, Karl, Emporer and King’ - ‘With life and blood 1916’. Also known as the Cannon Cross.
