WW1 German Mechanical Big Bertha Card (G039)
Rare WWI Imperial German Mechanical Propaganda Postcard – Krupp 42cm "Big Bertha" (c. 1914)
An exceptional, highly collectible example of an original World War I Imperial German interactive mechanical postcard. This patriotic novelty card celebrates the devastating power of the Krupp 42 cm siege mortar, famously known as "Die dicke Bertha". The front features vibrant lithograph artwork depicting the mortar firing onto an enemy fortress with a Zeppelin patrolling the sky.
• Interactive Function: Features a fully functional, rear-mounted rotating wheel mechanism. Turning the side tab rotates the text inside the flying artillery shell window to display tactical text/names associated with the heavy siege artillery campaign.
• Authenticity: 100% original period piece. The back showcases the intact, original circular card-stock wheel and the metal split-pin fastener assembly.
Condition: Very Good vintage condition. The colorful front lithograph remains sharp and clear with minimal edge wear. The reverse shows expected light age-toning and minor residual paste marks near the edges from historical album storage, but it remains unposted and structurally sound.
