The hobby (and business) of collecting militaria in Brisbane is certainly alive and well. By extension there are also many large private and public collections in Logan City and The Gold Coast regions.

As we are based in South East QLD, only an hour South of Brisbane on the sunny Gold Coast, Militaria and military collectables for Brisbane and the Gold Coast are a speciality.
There are some great boutique stores and online dealers of military antiques and military collectables based in SE QLD. Not to mention some of the most impressive private collections that I’ve ever seen.
Add to this a big show like History Alive at Fort Lytton where re-enactors showcase their collections of living history displays and authentic militaria to the public each June, and Brisbane is not a bad place to be a militaria collector and military history enthusiast.
Just down the road on the sunny Gold Coast is also the Gold Coast War Museum which stands as likely the best private collection of militaria in this country. Masses of great gear is on display from all eras (Australian Army deployments since the Boer war to Afghanistan, WW1 Gallipoli and Western Front, WW2 Third Reich, military aviation, Vietnam war and on and on and on. Carefully curated by veterans, it is also an ever-changing treat of rare militaria.
A must see if you have not been there.
The Gold Coast War Museum is also home to one of the best shops and online militaria businesses, The Collectors Armoury, and the very first Skirmish Paintball field in Australia (which makes it also the longest running and most successful Paintball field in Australia). The Gold Coast War Museum has for years made the Gold Coast quite a magnet for militaria collectors and re-enactment groups.
Many of us have fond memories of the huge Guild gun shows at the Downey Park Table Tennis Centre. Masses of militaria were on sale with colourful dealer tables from all over the country. Before the new gun laws such shows also had a massive amount of very cool historic firearms on offer.
