With recent changes to laws relating to knives and blades in some states it’s important to take into account how the laws of your state will treat various types of blade. For example, in QLD it is now illegal for anyone under 18 to purchase a knife and in Victoria anything with a blade length of over 20 cm seems to be considered a prohibited item until exemptions are announced in September 2025.  Presumably common sense exemptions will be made available to legitimate collectors and occupational owners of such items.

Many militaria collectors, museums and man-cave enthusiasts will include various styles of blade into their collections and of course there are those who collect only swords, knives or bayonets as a highly specialised collection.
