Sabre provides film armoury, technical advisory, militaria and occasionally a military vehicle or two for hire to the film and TV industry.
Our little MUTT M151A2 Jeep has just returned from a couple of months on a film set. The Jeep was used in an upcoming epic film about a famous incident in the Vietnam War and we cannot wait to see its screen debut when this movie comes out.
For its work in the film the little green beast had a complete mechanical overall, a new Nam era paint job and stencil make-over and even got brand new tyres. Now that it’s back everyone in the office has been looking for excuses to drive it around.
This vehicle is a nice example of an actual Vietnam war used vehicle. It is a 1970 build that was shipped to Vietnam and used by US and / or ARVN forces in the latter part of the war. At the end of the of Vietnam War in 1975 such vehicles were retained by the Vietnamese Army and often used in their wars against Kampuchea (Cambodia) and China.
This vehicle was imported into Australia in 2008 and even has its Vietnamese windscreen sticker and paperwork. Now it has been taken back to Nam onscreen for this new movie.
The Sabre team enjoys our work in the film and TV industry whether as Armourers and Military Advisors, or when supplying militaria, replica guns and on this occasion vehicles to various productions.
