Occasionally some of our ex-military Sabre team members will head onto film sets — working as advisors, film armourers and even stepping in front of the camera as specialist extras and cast.
Recently some of the Sabre team got to see their efforts roar onto life the big screen in the exciting Vietnam War meets Dinosaur action movie ‘Primitive War’. Based on the novels by Ethan Pettus the film tracks the adventures of a 1968 LRRP Team ‘Vulture Squad’ as they search for a missing Green Beret Mike Team. What they find is plenty of action and danger in the form of Viet Cong, NVA, Soviet Advisors and – Dinosaurs.
A few of the team recently attended a special premiere of the film and absolutely loved what they saw. This Aussie-made film is already making waves internationally with its original concept and action-packed storytelling. Our team members who served as specialist extras, cast, and film armourers had the time of their lives helping bring it to life. Getting to see themselves playing Vietnam era SF, Grunts and Chopper Crews on the big screen amidst all of the action was quite a thrill.
Making a feature film is one of the toughest tests of teamwork you’ll ever see — high stakes, tight deadlines, unpredictable conditions, and dozens of specialist roles that all need to click. The same principles we see in all high-performing teams apply here: clear communication, trust, adaptability, and playing to each person’s strengths. We’re proud to have been part of the crew that pulled it off.
This exciting and original film is in cinemas August 21st across Australia.
